We believe in simple and pure devotion to Jesus Christ, our Lord...
...In house churches.
Jesus asked His Father to send the Holy Spirit to be our personal tutor (John 14:26). We also need regular encouragement from our friends to be like Jesus and do the work God has given us. Smaller groups provide an intimate setting for each person to grow in faith. Here we love, uplift, encourage, and stimulate one another.
The life of the church, as a gathering of believers, exists in relationships. [Link to discussion on "In Relationship."] For us, one major way of relating to one another is the two weekly church gatherings.
The Sunday morning meeting is focused on worship, prayer, and teaching. That is, it is focused on the relationship between each of us and God.
The weekly house church meetings are focused more on the relationships between people as mediated by the Holy Spirit. These are small gatherings, usually in someone's living room (I Corinthians 16:19). The purpose of these gatherings is to love, care, encourage, and build up of each member (Hebrews 10:24,25). House church gatherings also include teaching, worship and prayer. (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16; I Corinthians 14:26).
We view house church as a "safe place" and a refuge. That is, it is a place where someone may practice the gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit, in the safety of a small group of friends. It is also a place where a person may share the deep needs of his or her heart, to be heard out, and ministered to in the love of Jesus. Either way, they are a place to grow in faith. They are place to be encourage to grow more like Jesus (Romans 8:29).
Because we view house church as a place to live in relationship and practice his or her calling, it can be a focus of reaching out to people outside the church, service to others in the community, etc.
We also encourage house church to have communion (Acts 2:46). This is an expression of our love and affection for Jesus (I Corinthians 11:25. "Do this in remembrance of Me").
